Bedford High School for Girls

Bedford High School for girls, founded in 1882, has a long tradition of academic excellence, diversity of opportunity and the highest standards in pastoral care. As well as 710 day girls there are 140 boarders living in a family atmosphere under the care of teaching housemistresses.

At the on-site Junior School, our girls have the benefit of specialist teaching, and the use of main school facilities whilst enjoying their own purpose built accommodation.

The Senior School offers a positive environment in which all girls are challenged and inspired to achieve their potential.  Within an academic setting, sporting and creative talents are valued and developed, and initiative, independence and self-confidence are encouraged.

In the Sixth Form students may choose from a wide variety of subjects for either A level or the International Baccalaureate Diploma, encouraging each girl to select the programme which best suits individual needs within caring and supportive structures.

Our girls expect to attain their academic and personal goals, expect to be enriched, inspired and fully involved in our lively school.
