Last year the Charity distributed over £1million of grant money in the Borough and also welcomes a new Chairman of Trustees. 5 February 2010 Girls’ Schools will merge by September 2012 Trustees have announced that Bedford High School for Girls (BHSG) and Dame Alice Harpur School (DAHS) will be fully merged onto the Cardington Road site by September 2012 and will be known as Bedford Girls’ School. 19 January 2010 Final Green Light for the Bedford Academy The creation of the new academy in Bedford has taken several important leaps forward recently with formal approval from the government. 13 November 2009 Merger of Bedford High School for Girls and Dame Alice Harpur School Since the decision to merge Bedford High School for Girls (BHSG) and Dame Alice Harpur School (DAHS) in June the Trustees, Heads and their advisers have been working together to develop the merger plans that will achieve their new vision¹ for the school. 14 September 2009 Local Maintained Schools Trust Newsletter The Charity is currently trust partners with a number of maintained school trusts and this newsletter outlines the early developments of the trusts formed during the past academic year 2008-2009. 3 July 2009 Bedford Charity announces decision to merge Bedford High School for Girls and Dame Alice Harpur School 25 June 2009 Claire Smith is appointed as the new Principle Designate for the Bedford Academy It’s another step forward for the Bedford Academy, with the appointment of its first Principal.
