Our endowment
The
Charity benefits from a permanent endowment as a result of a gift in
1566 by William Harpur. Over the succeeding 450 years, the value of
the endowment has grown to a sum of £47.5m (at 30 June 2009).
This endowment consists of property situated on some of the original gift of land, together with an investment portfolio, which has been purchased out of proceeds from the sale of properties on the original gift of land.
The endowment committee regularly review the investment strategy and set a target asset allocation having taken the requisite professional advice.
