Our endowment
The
Charity benefits from a permanent endowment as a result of a gift in
1566 by William Harpur. Over the succeeding 450 years, the value of
the endowment has grown to a sum of £58.2m (at 30 June 2006).
This endowment consists of property situated on some of the original gift of land, together with an investment portfolio, which has been purchased out of proceeds from the sale of properties on the original gift of land.
Currently, the endowment is divided between direct property, equity and cash/bonds
in the ratio 8:62:30. The asset split is reviewed annually by the professional
advisers and Trustees.
